Below programs applying for initial accreditation will find information specific to beginning the initial accreditation process.  The Initial Accreditation Pathways Project provides a series of modules designed to help develop or revise a medical assisting program to comply with the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines.  The “Initial Accreditation Packet” outlines the steps for the Request for Accreditation Services (RAS), and the link to the RAS is also available.

For a 20-minute overview of the virtues of accrediation and the initial accreditation process, please view the following video: Initial Accrediation Pathways Project: The Virtues of Accreditation.

After you view the content in this video, there is a form for you to fill out that will be submitted to the MAERB staff.  Once we receive the form, we will contact you to provide you with access to a short virtual asynchronous course, Initial Accreditation Pathways Project, consisting of eleven interactive modules about the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Medical Assisting.  In addition, these modules will introduce you to MAERB’s resources to help you work efficiently toward your goal of initial accreditation.

As a Committee on Accreditation (CoA) under CAAHEP, The Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) provides support and guidance for medical assisting programs who are interested in CAAHEP accreditation, and we conduct all the processes and then work with CAAHEP for the accreditation recommendations
